Report on Workshop conducted on the topic ‘NodeJS’

The IETE student branch of ETC Department of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda-Goa , organized a two day workshop on the topic, ‘NodeJS’. The workshop was held on  and  February 28-29, 2020 at the Signal Processing and Machine Learning Lab. The talk was open for Third year and Final year ETC students.

The resource person for the workshop was, Mr. Sumeet Gohil. He completed his MSc. in IT from Thakur College (Mumbai University). Later, he completed a diploma from CDAC and later also conducted a workshop for CDAC students. He is a freelance developer and currently working on projects from British Council.

The first day of the workshop was about backend development which included topics: Backend Introduction, Database Introduction, Get Started (NodeJS with Express), Server Setup, Create API was covered in morning session. In the evening session of first day the topics covered were: Routes, Database(MySQL or MongoDB), Controllers/Models, Data Validation, Deployment (Heroku).

On the second day of the workshop, frontend development topics were covered. In the morning session, the students were familiarized with Frontend Introduction, HTML/CSS/JS Introduction, Get Stared (ReactJS), Client Setup, Create Basic APP. In the evening session, the topics covered were: Add Routes, Data Exchange between Server and Client (Axios or Fetch), CRUD Operations, Dashboard with One Graph, Deployment (Heroku).

After the talk, there was a discussion among the resource person and attendees wherein the expert cleared various doubts on the topic. Before calling it a day, the expert encouraged students to keep exploring more in the field and take up new projects in the domain. The resource person also informed the students about the job opportunities available in the field.
