TE & BE computer students attend Android Basics Workshop

Third year and final year computer engineering students attended a workshop on “Android Basics” on  March 14, 2020 in Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda- Goa. The workshop was organized by C-CODES computer students association. The workshop started at 2.00 pm with a hands-on session in the Computer Department laboratories. Mr Saurabh Kanekar, Junior research fellow in the Computer Department of Don Bosco College of Engineering was the resource faculty for the day. Asst. Prof.  Merwyn D’Souza was the coordinator for the workshop.

Android is a mobile operating system based on a modified version of the Linux kernel and other open source software, designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Android is developed by a consortium of developers known as the Open Handset Alliance, with the main contributor and commercial marketer being Google.

The workshop covered the basics of Android Programming Skills with topics :What is Android?

Understanding the Basic of Android OS,Building Blocks of Android,Application Lifecycle, Installation of Android Development,Configuration of Android Development Environment on your Computer,Making the UI using XML for Android,Compiling the Code,What is the Use of Manifest File in Android Development Environment?,Creating the Virtual Android Device like ANDROID 1.5,Make a simple Hello” Name” Print Program for Android Device,Make app for Android Device and Debugging the Code.

Students gained hands-on experience with Android programming and its features and learnt to design simple android apps.
