Rev. Fr. Paul D’souza delivered a session on the 10th July, 2017, at Don Bosco College of Engineering-Fatorda on The Triple objectives of Higher Education, Key factors affecting the effectiveness of Technical education and the Important values Educators should possess.
He mentioned the Triple objectives of higher education as: Expansion, Inclusion and Excellence. He stressed that it is in the objective of Expansion that excellence should be guaranteed, in the objective of Inclusion is where higher education needs the support of the State without which, Higher education remains a forte of the rich and the upper class. He mentioned that while dealing with the objective on Excellence, the primary aim of Higher education is not only skill and empolyability but also development and its contribution to the economics, social, political , spiritual and cultural arena.
He continued to elaborate on the key factors that affect the effectiveness of Technical education being: goal producing well qualified technocrats, technical competence in students, administration, infrastructure, teaching effectiveness,interaction with industry and society, extra curricular activities, research and development.
He also informed the faculty regarding the beneifits of a positive attitude and how as an educator one can make life 100% for their students.
