80th Independence Day Celebration

Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day in the college premises on 15th August 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr Chetan Acharya, Working President of All India Konkani Parishad.. Mr Chetan Acharya was accompanied by dignitaries: Rector, Reverend Father Ralin De Souza, Administrator Reverend Father Leo Pereira, Principal Dr. Neena Panandikar, Registrar Dr. Kala Nayak & CEO of FiiRE Mr. Kiran Mehta.

The programme began with hoisting of the National Flag followed by the National Song Vande Mataram & National Anthem, with orders given by Physical Education and Sports Director, Mr Clifford Britto and our NCC Cadet Mr. Tabrez Khan. This was followed by welcoming the Chief Guest with a bouquet of flowers by Rector, Reverend Father Ralin De Souza, and Principal Dr. Neena Panandikar delivering the welcome address to the gathering.

Patriotism set the stage as there was a patriotic song presented by Music Club of Don Bosco College of Engineering.

The Chief Guest was introduced by Ms Niti Naik from SE Computer who underlined Mr Chetan Acharya achievements and reiterated his work in different fields. The Chief Guest’s address in his address said ”the Independence we got is not to disrespect others independence but to respect equally everyone independence and work together for betterment of this Nation”. He also mentioned that we all have to work towards making India the country with the highest happiness quotient in the world.

Towards the end, a token of appreciation was presented to Chief Guest by Administrator Reverend Father Leo Pereira, and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Prasanna Pednekar from SE Computer who extended sincere gratitude to the dignitaries, the presenters and the performers of the day. The compere for the function was Ms. Sanvi Fatarpekar from SE Computer.
