Launchpad Initiative: ‘Ideate to Innovate’ Session Conducted for E-Cell Members at DBCE

The Entrepreneurship Cell of Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE), Fatorda, organised an insightful session titled “Ideate to Innovate” as part of its Launchpad initiative on 25 August 2026 at Seminar Hall-2. The session aimed to encourage students to think creatively, identify opportunities, and explore how ideas can be transformed into meaningful and practical innovations.

The session was conducted by Mr. Sumukh Kamat, International Business Consultant and Founder of The Energy Footprint, who brings over two decades of professional experience across design, innovation, project management and business development. His professional journey includes associations with organisations such as Unilever, Siemens Healthineers, Kineco Composite and CommScope. He has also been associated with the Goa State Innovation Council and has previously addressed students at DBCE during DREAM BIG 2026.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Godrea Rodrigues, who also served as the host for the session. Mr. Kamat was formally introduced to the participants, following which Mr. Tanishq Kavlekar, Chairman, E-Cell, welcomed him with a rose on behalf of the institution.

The expert session was designed to be highly interactive rather than a conventional lecture. Mr. Kamat engaged the students through a Google Form-based activity, encouraging them to reflect on their thoughts, aspirations and plans for the coming years. Their responses formed the basis for discussions on creativity, innovation, professional growth and taking ideas towards implementation.

Drawing from his professional experience, Mr. Kamat shared practical insights into approaching problems creatively, developing ideas, taking initiative and continuously adapting to changing requirements. He also emphasised the importance of continuous learning and skill development and introduced students to certification courses available through The Energy Footprint portal, providing them with opportunities to enhance their learning beyond the classroom.

The interactive approach enabled students to actively participate in the discussion and relate the concepts of innovation and personal development to their own aspirations and experiences.

At the conclusion of the session, Prof. Swaroopa Sail presented a memento to Mr. Sumukh Kamat as a token of appreciation for his valuable contribution and interaction with the students. The programme concluded with a group photograph involving the speaker, faculty members, organisers and participants.

The “Ideate to Innovate” session served as a valuable platform for students to reflect on their aspirations, explore creative thinking and understand the journey from an idea to a potential innovation. The session was a meaningful addition to the Launchpad initiative of the Entrepreneurship Cell, reinforcing the importance of creativity, initiative, continuous learning and innovation among students.
