A Road Safety Awareness Session was organised on 1 October 2026 by the NSS Unit in
association with the Department of Science and Humanities at Don Bosco College of
Engineering, Fatorda, Goa. The programme was conducted as part of the 15th State Road
Safety Week 2026, observed from 28 September to 4 October 2026, with the theme “Drive
Safe, Ride Safe, Reach Safe.” Education Dept.
The session was delivered by Police Inspector Mr. Filomeno Costa and Police Sub-
Inspector Mr. Devu Mangaonkar, Traffic Cell, Fatorda, who sensitised the students on
various aspects of road safety, traffic rules, responsible road-user behaviour, and the
importance of adopting safe practices while driving and riding. The program was highly
informative and interactive. The resource persons engaged the students through practical
examples and discussions, encouraging them to understand the importance of responsible
behaviour on the road. The young participants showed considerable enthusiasm and curiosity
and actively interacted with the police officials, seeking clarification on various aspects of
road safety and traffic regulations. The programme successfully created awareness among the
students about their responsibilities as road users and reinforced the importance of following
safe practices. The active participation and interaction of the students made the session
meaningful and impactful, further strengthening the message of “Drive Safe, Ride Safe,
Reach Safe.”
The session was coordinated by Dr. Chetan Gaonkar, NSS Programme Officer, along with
Assistant Professors Harrison Cota and Esta Pereira from the Department of Science and
Humanities. Around 60 students participated actively in the programme. Dr. Kala Nayak,
Head of the Department of Science and Humanities, was also present during the session.
