Report on DRDO Data Collection Session on ‘Scale Construction for Purpose in Life’

A data collection session on “Scale Construction for Purpose in Life on Indigenous Perspectives” was conducted at Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE), Fatorda, Goa, on 23 September 2026 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The session was organised as part of a pan-India research project undertaken by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to collect data for the development of a test based on Indian Knowledge Systems and indigenous perspectives on the concept of purpose in life.

The session was conducted by a three-member team from the Defence Institute of Psychological Research (DIPR), DRDO, comprising Ms. Yukti Jindal, Scientist B and Principal Investigator (PI) of the project; Ms. Pallavi Bais, Scientist B; and Mr. Arshad Khan, Technical Officer A.

The project is being carried out across different educational institutions in India to collect responses from students. Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Goa, was selected as one of the participating institutions in this nationwide data-collection initiative.

The project is being undertaken in two phases, with the first phase currently in progress. As part of Phase I, approximately 100–120 students of the college participated in the data- collection process. During the sessions, the participants were provided with a questionnaire and guided through the process of responding to the items relevant to the study.

The session provided an opportunity for the students of Don Bosco College of Engineering to participate in a significant pan-India research initiative of DRDO
