Skilling Engineers for Professional Success

The Training and Placement Cell of Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE), in association with the Konkan Railway Academy, organized an insightful industry interaction session titled “Skilling Engineers for Professional Success (SEPS)”. The session was aimed at providing students with practical insights into railway engineering, infrastructure, safety, and career opportunities.

Dr. Shreyas Simu introduced the resource person, Mr. Surya Shekhar, Manager (Training & Development), Konkan Railway Academy. Prof. Sachin Turi, Placement Coordinator, Department of Mechanical Engineering, was also present.

Mr. Shekhar briefed the students on the functioning of the railway system and highlighted how engineering innovations have contributed to its modernization, efficiency, and safety. He elaborated on the role of civil engineers in the construction of railway tracks, tunnels, bridges, and other infrastructure, as well as the contribution of electrical engineers in developing systems for detecting faults and enhancing operational safety

He also introduced the SEPS initiative, launched by Konkan Railway in 2017 to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements through practical training, site visits, case studies, and exposure to railway operations. The workshop was attended by 60 students.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A session, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Norman Dias - Training and Placement Officer. The interaction provided students with valuable industry exposure and encouraged them to develop practical skills for professional success.
