Talk on the Power of Telecommunication

On 25th August 2026, the Training & Placement Cell, in association with the Alumni Association, organized “Career Catalyst 1.0” on the topic “The Power of Telecommunication.” The session featured Dr. Cecilia Jane D’Silva, an alumna of the institution and currently working as a Radio Frequency Simulation and Design Engineer at Kineton, Italy, as the guest speaker. The session aimed to provide students with an understanding of the evolving field of telecommunications, its applications, and the career opportunities it offers.

Dr. D’Silva discussed various types of antennas used in mobile phones, satellites, and Indian defence systems, explaining their importance in modern communication technologies. She also provided valuable insights into the future scope of 5G and 6G technologies, SIM technologies, and telecommunication networks. She highlighted upcoming projects and developments in the field and discussed the potential for these advancements to generate new and diverse employment opportunities for engineering graduates.

Dr. D’Silva shared her personal journey as a college student. Her curiosity and determination to continuously learn and explore new areas, played an important role in shaping her career. Through her journey, she encouraged students to identify their interests, develop a passion for learning, and actively explore opportunities in emerging technologies.

The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where students interacted with Dr. D’Silva and raised queries related to telecommunications, research, career opportunities, and future technologies. Overall, the session was knowledgeable, informative, and inspiring, providing students with valuable insights into the present and future of telecommunications.
